In its concrete projects helping the most vulnerable communities in developing countries adapt and build resilience to climate change, the Adaptation Fund ensures they are of high quality and effective through innovative policies that adapt to country needs and promote human rights, gender equality, marginalized groups, biodiversity conservation, natural habitats, pollution prevention and resource efficiency. Partners under its pioneering Direct Access modality will discuss these aspects of its projects.
Speakers: Representatives from National Implementing Entities, civil society, countries and the Adaptation Fund.
Thirteenth meeting of the Adaptation Committee (AC13)
The forty-eighth sessions of the Subsidiary Body for Implementation (SBI 48) and Subsidiary Body for Scientific and Technological Advice (SBSTA 48) as well as the fifth part of the first session of the Ad Hoc Working Group on the Paris Agreement (APA 1-5) will take place from 30 April to 10 May 2018

When Kyoto Protocol countries decided at COP23 that the Adaptation Fund “shall serve” the Paris Agreement (PA), it recognized wide recognition and demand for AF’s concrete, tailored adaptation actions to the most vulnerable and its pioneering Direct Access modality that builds national capacities.
With CMA decisions expected at COP24, AF is helping to operationalize the PA. Its new 5-year strategy aligned with the PA & UN Sustainable Development Goals accelerates action, empowers the vulnerable, promotes gender-responsiveness, fosters innovation and collaboration.
AF leaders, country implementers, governments and CSOs provide concrete examples.

Adaptation Futures 2018 takes place from 18-21 June 2018 in Cape Town, South Africa.
It marks the first time this international climate change adaptation conference is being held on the African continent. The conference will gather more than 1,000 researchers, climate specialists, public and private sector leaders from across the globe to connect countries, exchange experiences and inspire further climate action.
As a partner, the Adaptation Fund will showcase projects and lessons learned throughout the conference during sessions and through a display at the Adaptation Expo.
