The Adaptation Fund was included in the language accompanying the landmark Paris Agreement in December 2015 when nearly 200 country parties agreed to address climate change globally at the COP21 Paris climate conference, including an increased role for adaptation. The parties recognized that the Adaptation Fund may serve the Agreement, pending subsequent decisions. The Fund also raised US$ 75 million in new pledges at the conference.
