UNDP and the UNEP-Climate Technology Centre and Network (CTCN), have released two new impact reports showcasing results, lessons and emerging insights from the Adaptation Fund Climate Innovation Accelerator (AFCIA) between 2020 and 2025.

Together, the reports provide a comprehensive look at how AFCIA has supported locally driven climate adaptation innovations, demonstrating the value of flexible finance, technical assistance and business support in helping communities develop and scale solutions to climate risks.

The Adaptation Fund Climate Innovation Accelerator Impact Report 2020–2025 (UNDP) highlights achievements from five years of implementation, documenting support to 44 locally rooted initiatives in 33 countries through a combination of grant financing and technical assistance. The report showcases innovations spanning nature-based solutions, resilient agriculture, water management, early warning systems and circular economy approaches, and examines how locally led innovation can strengthen resilience, improve livelihoods and reach vulnerable populations at scale.

Complementing this publication, the AFCIA I Impact Report (UNEP-CTCN) presents results and lessons from AFCIA support delivered through the CTCN network. The report features case studies, data and reflections on how demand-driven technical assistance and innovation support have enabled countries and local actors to develop, test and refine climate technologies and solutions tailored to their contexts.

Together, the two reports underscore AFCIA’s role in bridging early-stage innovation and large-scale impact, while contributing to global learning on what works in locally led adaptation and climate innovation.
