Ex post 2022: Enhancing resilience of communities to the adverse effects of climate change on food security, in Pichincha Province and the Jubones River Basin

In Ecuador, communities in Pichincha Province and the Jubones River Basin are increasingly vulnerable to climate change impacts, including erratic rainfall, droughts, and extreme weather events that threaten water resources and food security. This ex post evaluation assesses how project outcomes have evolved several years after completion, with a focus on whether interventions to strengthen climate resilience and food security have delivered sustained adaptation benefits over time.

This $USD 7.4 million Adaptation Fund-supported project focused on enhancing resilience by improving water management, promoting climate-resilient agricultural practices, and strengthening institutional and community capacities. The project was implemented by the World Food Programme (WFP) in partnership with the Government of Ecuador, with national execution led by the Ministry of Environment and the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock.
