Ex post 2022: Enhancing Resilience of Samoa’s Coastal Communities to Climate Change
In Samoa, coastal communities are highly vulnerable to climate change impacts, including sea-level rise, coastal erosion, and increasingly intense storms that threaten livelihoods, infrastructure, and ecosystems. This ex post evaluation assesses how project outcomes have evolved several years after completion, with a focus on whether coastal protection and community-based adaptation measures have delivered sustained resilience benefits over time.
This $USD 5.0 million Adaptation Fund-supported project focused on strengthening climate resilience by implementing ecosystem-based coastal protection measures, improving infrastructure, and enhancing the adaptive capacity of vulnerable communities. The project was implemented by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in partnership with the Government of Samoa, with national execution led by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment.
