The Adaptation Fund Board has approved an extension of accreditation validity for all Implementing Entities currently accredited to the Fund, as well as those undergoing re-accreditation, through 31 October 2027.
The decision was taken at the Board’s 46th meeting a couple of weeks ago, following consideration of the Accreditation Panel’s report and ongoing deliberations on the proposed continuous accreditation model. The extension applies to entities due for re-accreditation and provides additional time for them to continue implementing Adaptation Fund projects while preparing for, or completing, the re-accreditation process.
The Fund’s national, regional, and multilateral implementing entities typically need to become reaccredited every five years.
This decision helps ensure continuity and predictability for Implementing Entities, while allowing the Fund to further develop and operationalize its future accreditation framework. Additional details on the accreditation approach and next steps will be considered at the Board’s 47th meeting.
