This guidance document is developed for Adaptation Fund (AF) Implementing
Entities (IEs) seeking to appropriately use the Fund’s Strategic Results Framework
(SRF). At its 45th meeting, in October 2025, the AF Board (AFB) approved the
revised SRF, which defines the Fund’s goals, expected impacts, outcomes, and
outputs, along with indicators for measuring these results. All concrete projects and
programmes submitted by IEs must align with the Fund’s SRF to enable tracking
and assessing impact across portfolio. The Adaptation Fund takes a principles-based
approach to results management, incorporating flexibility that enables IEs to adapt
and contextualize the guidance to the specific circumstances of their projects and
programmes.

This revised guidance supersedes earlier versions and offers greater alignment
with the revised SRF, covering all funding windows for concrete projects including
innovation and locally led adaptation (LLA). This guidance document should
henceforth be used by IEs throughout project and programme cycles (design,
monitoring, and evaluation).
