Adaptation Fund at Bonn Climate Change Conference 2023

The Adaptation Fund will have a strong presence at the Bonn Climate Change Conference (SB58) that will be held from 5 to 15 June 2023 in Bonn, Germany.

The conference is designed to continue discussions on issues of critical importance, such as global stocktake, global goal of adaptation and loss and damage to prepare for COP28 in Dubai from 30 November to 12 December 2023.

The Adaptation Fund will engage with partners and stakeholders share experience and knowledge on adaptation and climate finance, while discussing the AF’s ambition under its Medium Term Strategy for 2023-2027 including Locally-Led Adaptation, scaling up and innovation. Bilateral meetings with contributor governments will be organized to discuss the Fund’s resource mobilization.

Members will also participate in multiple events on the theme of climate finance, loss and damage, gender and different adaptation sectors.

Information Session for Parties & Observers on Updates and Outlook of the Adaptation Fund

The Adaptation Fund’s mandate is to finance concrete adaptation projects in developing countries
with a focus on the most vulnerable communities. The Fund, established in 2001, has been
operational since 2007 and has been serving the Paris Agreement since 2019 and is a key channel
for delivering dedicated support for adaptation.

The Adaptation Fund invites Parties and Observers to an open information session on the recent
updates of the Fund during the SB58 Bonn Climate Change Conference in Bonn, Germany. This
event will present recent updates and trends in adaptation finance and showcase new strategic
directions for enhancing the ambition and impact of adaptation finance, including the Adaptation
Fund’s new Medium-term Strategy for the period 2023 – 2027. The Fund will also brief on recent
and upcoming developments in the work of the Fund, followed by a Q&A session.
