In recognition of the Adaptation Fund’s effective and tangible work on the ground for the most vulnerable countries and to raise ambition for urgently needed adaptation finance and the Fund’s importance in creating scalable models for concrete adaptation action, this event provides an opportunity for high-level representatives from contributor, recipient governments and civil society to highlight the Fund’s crucial role in the climate finance landscape. New pledges may be announced during the event, which will feature government ministers and other high-level representatives.
The event is hosted by the U.K. Presidency of COP 26 and the Chilean Presidency of COP 25.
Climate Ambition Summit 2020
The Adaptation Fund Contributor Dialogue coincides with the Climate Ambition Summit 2020 which will be held on December 12, 2020. The UK, UN and France will co-host the Summit, in partnership with Chile and Italy, on the fifth anniversary of the landmark 2015 Paris Agreement.
The Summit will provide a platform for leaders to announce ambitious new commitments under the Paris Agreement, and will also feature announcements from non-state actors, including civil society, business, academia, indigenous groups and young people.
The Summit will be an important moment to drive forward collective action as we move towards COP26. It will be an opportunity for leaders to bring forward new commitments that put us firmly on a greener, more resilient, and sustainable path – and put the world on track to deliver global net-zero emissions and limit global temperature rise to 1.5C.
