Rwanda is reducing vulnerability to climate change and extreme rainfall in the northwestern part of the country through an Adaptation Fund project focused on community-based adaptation and water management. The Rwanda Ministry of Natural Resources is implementing the program with US$9.96 million from the Adaptation Fund to improve the food security and sustainable agriculture methods of rural farmers by building water diversion channels and employing bench terracing to adapt to climate-driven erosion and reduce flooding, pollution and landslides. The community-driven project applies integrated sustainable land and water management techniques to build resilience to climate change.
