The Adaptation Fund is proud to serve as foundation sponsor and key partner of Adaptation Futures 2025, taking place in Ōtautahi Christchurch, New Zealand from October 13–16. As the 8th international conference and flagship event of the United Nations World Adaptation Science Programme (WASP), this premier global gathering brings together practitioners, policymakers, researchers, academics, and community leaders from around the world to exchange knowledge, collaborate, and catalyze action on climate change adaptation.
With a strong focus on Indigenous innovation and leadership, and dedicated attention to the Pacific region’s unique challenges and solutions, Adaptation Futures 2025 provides a crucial platform for advancing inclusive, locally led, and innovative approaches to building climate resilience.
Through a series of dedicated events and sessions, the Adaptation Fund will play an active role at the conference, demonstrating its strong commitment to advancing adaptation action and empowering vulnerable communities worldwide. Accredited Implementing Entities (IEs) of the Adaptation Fund, primarily from Small Island Developing States (SIDS) and Least Developed Countries (LDCs), are engaging in the sessions to share their project insights and success stories.
The Adaptation Fund will also host an exhibit booth at the conference to actively engage participants and highlight its work.

About the Adaptation Fund and Its Work in the Asia-Pacific Region
The Adaptation Fund finances concrete climate adaptation projects that help vulnerable communities in developing countries build resilience to climate change. Since 2010, it has committed nearly US$ 1.4 billion to almost 200 projects, reaching more than 51 million people worldwide.
The Fund pioneered Direct Access, a groundbreaking approach empowering national institutions to lead their own adaptation efforts. It has also launched innovative programs such as Locally Led Adaptation and the Innovation Facility to support scalable, community-driven solutions.
The Asia-Pacific region accounts for over a third of the Fund’s portfolio, with 69 projects and more than US$ 413 million in funding. This includes growing support for Pacific Islands and Small Island Developing States (SIDS), which face some of the most severe climate impacts.
