Ex post 2026: Climate Change Adaptation Programme In Water and Agriculture In Anseba Region, Eritrea

In Eritrea’s Anseba Region, communities face significant climate change pressures, including recurrent drought, erratic rainfall, and land degradation that undermine water resources and agricultural productivity. This ex post evaluation assesses how project outcomes have evolved several years after completion, with a focus on whether interventions in water management and climate-resilient agriculture have delivered sustained adaptation benefits over time.

This $USD 6.5 million Adaptation Fund-supported project focused on strengthening climate resilience by improving water availability, enhancing sustainable land and agricultural practices, and building the adaptive capacity of vulnerable rural communities. The project was implemented by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in partnership with the Government of Eritrea, with national execution led by the Ministry of Agriculture.
