Ex post: Increased Resilience to Climate Change in Northern Ghana through the Management of Water Resources and Diversification of Livelihoods

In northern Ghana, communities are highly vulnerable to climate change impacts, including rising temperatures, erratic rainfall, and recurrent droughts that threaten water availability and livelihoods. This ex post evaluation assesses how project outcomes have evolved several years after completion, with a focus on whether investments in water resource management and livelihood diversification have delivered sustained adaptation benefits over time.

This $USD 8.3 million Adaptation Fund-supported project focused on strengthening climate resilience by improving water resource management and supporting diversified, climate-resilient livelihoods in vulnerable rural communities. The project was implemented by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in partnership with the Government of Ghana, with national execution led by the Ministry of Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation (MESTI).
