Hans Olav Ibrekk is Policy Director – Climate Coordinator – at the Norwegian Agency for Development Cooperation (Norad). He has worked at the World Bank, European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and in the Secretariat for the International Conference on Water and the Environment (held in Dublin in 1992), as well as the Norwegian Ministry of the Environment, Norwegian Institute for Water Research (NIVA) and consulting firms. Mr. Ibrekk served as a member on the Water and Sanitation Task Force of the UN Millennium Project.

 

Mr. Ibrekk has more than twenty years of experience from government, international organizations, research and consulting in areas such as development cooperation, water resources management, international waters, climate ‘proofing’, clean energy (e.g. hydropower), environmental financing, including project financing, environmental impact assessment (EIA), strategic environmental assessment (SEA), environmental policy, development of environmental action programs, environmental technology, and capacity building.
