As stated in the Evaluation Policy, Implementing Entities (IEs), with the input of Designated Authorities, are responsible for commissioning or conducting final project and programme evaluations. These evaluations assess project/programme performance and impact to support learning and accountability and inform future climate change adaptation (CCA) interventions. In order to contribute to the learning of the Fund, the AF-TERG produces syntheses of project final evaluations as part of its work programme. Evaluation syntheses intend to inform the work of the Fund and its partners by synthesizing evaluative evidence, lessons learned, and conclusions from evaluations of projects funded by the Fund and other relevant institutions.

Second Synthesis of Adaptation Fund Final EvaluationsThe second synthesis of Adaptation Fund Final Evaluations covers 12 final evaluations implemented by a combination of Multilateral Implementing Entities (nine projects/programmes) and National Implementing Entities (three projects/programmes) in Asia, Latin America and Caribbean, and Sub-Saharan Africa. It serves learning, accountability, and oversight purposes.

First Synthesis of Adaptation Fund Final Evaluations (October 2021)

The first synthesis covered 17 final evaluations of projects/programmes received from 2015 to June 2020. It was based on the first cohort of completed projects in the Fund portfolio. Of the 15 projects/programmes by Multilateral Implementing Entities (MIEs), 12 were implemented by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).
